About

READ Media was founded in 2007 by Katie Read.

As a publicity company, we offer a bespoke approach and highly personal service.

Members of my team and I always aim to pour as much passion into each project as the author and publisher and to act as a consistently strong, awake ambassador for them and their books.

We lead traditional book campaigns with the aim of reaching target audiences via extract, reviews, features and interviews across a variety of media including, print, broadcast, social and digital.

In addition, we value long term relationships with our clients, working to raise and manage an author’s profile within their specialist area long after their publication date by looking for further opportunities for favourable coverage, such as expert comment and articles, and by putting authors forward for paid speaking engagements, literary festivals, conferences and events.

About Katie

One of my clearest early memories is sitting in bed not wanting to turn the last page of a book and end the experience of reading it. I still feel this several years later, whenever I read something truly wonderful, the most recent being, Barbara Kingsolver’s, The Poisonwood Bible. READ is my father’s last name but it was my mother’s love of books that inspired my own. Having consumed everything I could about King Arthur, I then moved onto the Bronte’s and later, the Romantic Poets. At GCSE level, I was spending weekends writing essays based on the questions my mother was tackling for her later-in-life degree. Although my passion for fiction remains strong, my company works solely with non-fiction titles and authors. So, books have always been my thing and although we don’t always fulfil the occupation of our last name, mine has provided a very suitable name for my company READ Media.
